Henna Hair Dye

With the popularity of henna body art on the rise throughout many different countries, the henna plant and paste has actually been combined several different ways to create all sorts of products for the skin and hair. For example, one such product that includes henna is henna hair dye. Henna hair dye is very popular for all sorts of reasons and many people use henna hair dye specifically to create a unique hair color rather than using a hair dye that is full of other chemicals, like the ones that can be purchased in any department store.

Henna by itself, however, will not create a whole range of colors in which to make henna hair dye. However, the natural color of the henna hair dye, if used alone, is a red-orange substance. It will probably have as much power to dye your hair a lighter or more reddish tint, but will not have very powerful effects that last for very long. However, there are several things that one can actually add to the henna hair dye mixture so that they can obtain not only other colors, but also affect the strength of the henna hair dye itself.

One popular and very abundant henna hair dye that can be made comes from adding other roots of other plants in the henna hair dye mixture. These natural forms of henna hair dye are sometimes more popular because they do not undergo such a drastic chemical change as the hair dyes that can be purchased in a department store that are inundated with plenty of other chemicals. One form of the henna hair dye that is created with other plant and herb mixtures is a blonde color. By mixing certain other plants with the original henna hair dye, blonde shades and tints can be created. For example, one example is the Rhubarb Root. All one has to do is mix the henna plant with the Rhubarb Root to be able to have blonde tones for the hair, thus making it a stronger henna hair dye. Another plant that will have much of the same effect, though, is Chamomile. Adding this also to the henna hair dye will create more of a blonde color and is very popular today. However, many people tend to experiment with henna hair dyes by mixing all three together. This may create other blonde shades as well if combined with the henna hair dye.

Other plants that are mixed with the henna hair dye include Indigo, Woad, Walnut, and Senna. All of these plants can be combined with the original form of henna hair dye to make other colors and strengths of the henna hair dye itself. In fact, many people prefer experimenting with the henna hair dye along with other plants instead of purchasing normal hair dyes from a regular store. But Indigo is able to be added to the henna hair dye to make hair darker and more black from a brown color; Woad is also used to dye hair a darker color; Walnut is combined with the henna hair dye to create a brown color; and Senna is able to be mixed with the henna hair dye to create a goldish-blonde hair color.

All of these ways are excellent and natural ways to go about using henna hair dye to dye your hair and thousands of people love using henna for their hair. As regular hair dyes continue to be expensive and superficial, more henna hair dyes will be marketed and used throughout the world for a more natural look!

Henna Hair Dye

Try henna- you'd be surprised the various shades of reds, browns, and burgundys you can get. And even better yet, henna is completely natural and can actually help strengthen your hair. Woman have been using this stuff since the days of Cleopatra and theres good reason for it!

It can actually be fun sometimes too- there are dozens or herbs, spices, and essential oils you can add to the concoction that can be great for your hair and can sometimes effect the shading of the color outcome. Henna is not just for the "Lucille Ball" kind of red! For example, rosemary essential oil and coffees are great additives for enhancing brown tones. For more golden tones you can add chamomile, black tea, or turmeric. Reds are even more easily enhanced with paprika, cloves, or beetroot powder. Though remember this is a natural alternative and cannot actually lighten hair! The outcomes is highly dependent on your original hair color. The sky is the limit- have fun experimenting!

The bottom line is this is the safest way to go for a new hair color or to hide the grays. Hair dyes these days are so filled with chemicals that can damage your hair in the long run and some research has showed that it may actually have negative effects on our health and the environment, that it is simply not worth the convenience anymore.

Henna is a leaf of small shrub of an Indian plant, dried, powdered and used for hair coloring. With powder hair dyes that use henna as a base, coloring hair has become an economical and less time consuming process. Henna as a base provides all the requirements of hair dye and in addition, offers all its natural properties including hair conditioning while leaving the hair soft.

Henna dyes coats each hair shaft with a natural, semi-permanent protein called hennatannic acid. Heat causes the hennatannic acid to cling to the proteins found in the hair. Because henna coats and seals the hair shaft, it helps protect the hair from damaging effects of sun, salt, chlorine, wind and pollution in the environment. Rather than producing dramatic color changes, henna dye enhances and deepens existing color. Because the color from henna is transparent, it cannot lighten dark hair; it will, however, add highlights to dark hair and can darken the color of lighter hair.
